ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"I have always been actively involved in the community development of First Nations cultural arts. My learnings of the Indigenous Creative Process began in my early teens. This interest drew me to various locations around North America to study symbolic interpretation.
Art, in all its hidden conceptions, seems to me as a vehicle used to transport ideas beyond mere sight. Art in itself contains all viable possibilities in expressions. Perhaps its easier to say 'I like to paint and experiment with creative processes.' As it stands today, I carry a versatility of art techniques and design development. These learnings have also allowed me to utilize art in a therapeutic manner with children and adults within the mosaic of cultures."
MICHAEL'S CONNECTION TO THIS PROJECT
Michael Cywink has worked with numerous school groups on developing their voice and motivating the telling of their own stories. Inspired by Mary Bryton Nahwegahbow's commitment to Ojibwe language preservation and to help motivate this young Anishinaabe-kwe's creative journey, Michael approached producer and long-time friend Jayson Stewart with the donation of these three limited edition art pieces, each of which is signed by the artist and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
