Jayson Stewart is a talented independent filmmaker from Northern Ontario, Canada. He is known for his work in both narrative and documentary filmmaking. With a passion for storytelling, Jayson’s projects often delve into human experiences, exploring themes of identity, culture, and the intricacies of the human condition. His keen eye for visual composition and ability to evoke deep emotions through film has earned him recognition in the industry. Over the years, Jayson has built a reputation for creating and supporting thought-provoking content that challenges conventional narratives, making him a distinctive voice in contemporary filmmaking. His work continues to captivate audiences and garner critical acclaim across various global film festivals.
When Jayson is not acting, he is directing, writing screenplays, producing short films, building props, auditioning talent, gathering crews, and working to further develop the film community in Northern Ontario.
Jayson has directed three short films including REZilience and The Philanthropist (both of which he also wrote) and directed Overdue (written by the late Marla J. Hayes). He is currently working on the screenplays for a supernatural ecological revenge thriller, far noth zombie film feature, a psychological horror romance, as well as an abandoned building siege adventure.
Jayson is a moderator for the Facebook Group "Northern Ontario Talent for Film", one of the key resources for film makers and actors working in Northern Ontario. He has sat on several film festival selection and judging committees including the 2024 Junction North Film Festival (Sudbury) and 2025 Deep Cuts Film Fest (Kitchener).
