Stewart, a high school arts teacher and cultural advocate, adds: “Working with Mary Bryton on this version of O Canada has been a humbling and powerful experience. It’s about more than music — it’s about truth, recognition, and connection and, at the end of the day, it’s about bringing a fresh and talented voice to every school and First Nations community across Turtle Island.”

Since the age of 15, Mary has actively promoted Indigenous languages by performing the National Anthem in three languages (English, French and Anishnaabemowin) at both Indigenous and national sporting events in honour of Truth and Reconciliation. Notably, Mary leverages her musical talents to contribute to philanthropy. She engages in fundraising activities to support Indigenous organizations that focus on social and educational opportunities for Indigenous youth. Her involvement in various events reflects her commitment to making positive impact in the community.

PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO THIS INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE PROJECT!

The studio date is fast approaching and we’re making preparations. Don’t miss out to be on the ground floor that will see a new version of O Canada, in Anishinaabemowin, English, and French, be professionally recorded and available to every school and First Nations community across Turtle Island!
